Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities: The Systems Administrator monitors and coordinates all data system operations including security procedures and liaison with end users. This individual is responsible for performing the following tasks:

  • Ensuring that necessary system backups are performed, and storage and rotation of backups are accomplished.
  • Monitoring and maintaining records of system performance and capacity to arrange vendor services, or other actions for reconfiguration, and anticipating requirements for system expansion.
  • Assisting managers to monitor and comply with State data security requirements.
  • Coordinating software development, user training, network management and minor installation and repair of equipment.



Qualifications

Education and Years of Experience: This position requires an associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or a related technical discipline. A Bachelor’s degree in one of the above disciplines is equal to one (1) year of specialized and two (2) years of general experience. An additional year of specialized experience may be substituted for the required education. General Experience: The proposed candidate must have at least two (2) years of experience in a computer-related field. Specialized Experience: The proposed candidate must have at least one (1) year of experience administering multi-user, shared processor systems and data communications networks.

  • Strong Written and Verbal communication skills
  • Experience with backup strategies
  • Experience with multiple backup products, Catalogic is a PLUS
  • Experience working in a virtual environment
  • Strong Troubleshooting skills
  • Work independently or as part of a team
  • Experience with Windows Server versions 2016, 2019, 2022 and 2025
  • Experience with NetApp Filers is a PLUS
  • Experience with large enterprise environments
  • Strong understanding of Windows Server platform 2016, 2019, 2022 and 2025
  • Operations and Maintenance; service requests / change requests; ticketing system
  • Incident Management
  • On-Call rotation participation (weekly)

Additional Requirements: Successful completion of a Fingerprint background investigation. Min Citizenship Status Required: H1-B Physical Requirements: No Physical requirement needed for this position. Location: Remote, US; occassional onsite in MD as required - Greater Baltimore area Travel: Please anticipate occasional travel to customer sites within the State of Maryland – meetings, design reviews, hands-on troubleshooting, equipment installation, and hardware lifecycle refresh.
