About the Position

We are seeking a dedicated Sterilisation Technician Supervisor to lead and coordinate the Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD)/Theatre Sterile Supply Unit (TSSU) at Perth Children's Hospital, part of the Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS). This role is vital in ensuring patient safety by delivering clean, sterilised medical devices to theatres, wards, and other hospital departments.

Reporting to the Clinical Nurse Manager, you will work collaboratively with theatre, ward and clinical staff to address theatre and patient-specific needs while managing resources and team allocation. You will oversee day-to-day operations of sterilisation services and lead your team to ensure compliance with AS 5369:2023 which means implementing best practice sterilisation protocol and maintaining rigorous processes that deliver clean and sterile surgical tools.

  • Key responsibilities include:Coordinating all sterilising activities and maintaining operational standards in CSSD.
  • Ensuring sterilising equipment is tested, maintained, and functioning safely, including tracking maintenance and repair records.
  • Acting as a resource person for staff across departments and maintaining infection control protocols.
  • Overseeing staff rosters, coordinating leave, and supporting staff rotations.
  • Providing training, mentoring, and performance support to team members.
  • Participating in the development of CSSD policies and quality improvement processes.
  • Contributing to inventory control and cost-effective assessment of new products and consumables.


If you have an advanced knowledge of sterilisation standards, complex reprocessing duties and sterilisation equipment with some prior leadership experience (including acting experience), then we would love to hear from you.

A Certificate III in Health Service Assistance (Sterilising Services) is required for this role.

About the Team

Based at Perth Children’s Hospital, our dedicated Sterilisation Team plays a vital role in ensuring the safety of medical instruments, minimising the risk of infection and safeguarding the health of our young patients. We collaborate closely with clinical teams to deliver sterilised instruments promptly, adhering to strict quality standards. As leaders in traceability, we use advanced software to document and monitor over 56,000 reusable instruments, ensuring precision and accountability.

Our team conducts regular testing to maintain the functionality of delicate instruments and provides training to hospital staff on proper handling and care.
