Full Professor (W3) in Ceramics at the Faculty of Georesources and Materials Engineering
We are inviting applications for the position of full professor in the area of ceramics, to be filled as soon as possible. The professorship focuses on ceramic materials within the fields of sustainable materials science and engineering and/or life sciences and/or energy. The causal relationships between the manufacturing process, microstructure, properties and per- formance are paramount. We are seeking an individual who has demon- strated outstanding international recognition through high-ranking scien- tific publications or patents. Experience in the initiation and implementa- tion of publicly funded research, in staff management and supervision of scientific theses as well as in international research collaborations is re- quired. The independent realization of excellent teaching as well as an in- novative and interactive teaching concept is mandatory.
Proven experience in experimental research (ideally with experience in simulation) in the university sector or in the context of an industrial career and in research management is expected.
Close co-operation with the process and materials technology-oriented chairs at RWTH is desired. The further development and maintenance of a national and international research and industrial network are also ex- pected.
The requirements include a doctoral degree and additional research ex- perience, such as a habilitation (post-doctoral lecturing qualification) or equivalent achievements gained as a university researcher or professor or in a research position outside academia. Teaching ability and dedication are essential and the application should include proof of this. Fluent Ger- man is not required to start the position but the successful candidate will be expected to hold classes in German within the first 5 years.
