Shardai Lover based in Auckland, is seeking a skilled and reliable Cook to join our kitchen team. This is a full-time, permanent position suited to a candidate with proven experience in commercial cookery, preferably in Indian cuisine.Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook a wide range of Indian dishes in accordance with menu and quality standards
- Plan food preparation and cooking tasks to ensure timely service
- Follow standard recipes and presentation specifications
- Check food quality before serving
- Portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes; storing food in temperature controlled facilities
- Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment;
- menu planning and development
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies
- Ensure proper storage and handling of food products
- Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen in line with food safety regulations
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Work closely with other kitchen staff to coordinate food service
Job Requirements:
- 2 years of relevant work experience as a Cook, or a relevant Level 4 qualification (or higher)
- Experience in Indian cuisine is preferred
- Good knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work rostered shifts
- Good teamwork and communication skills
