Founding Infrastructure Engineer - build the runtime that replaces the world's biggest system integrators Are you an infrastructure engineer who's owned platform layers end-to-end at high-growth startups? Have you shipped durable execution systems, sandboxed runtimes, or self-hosted deployments in production? Do you want to be the first infrastructure hire at a company that's already replacing $50B+ of consulting industry work with AI agents?
A seed-stage AI startup, backed across two rounds (eight figures total) by some of the most respected operator-backed funds in enterprise infrastructure, is hiring a Founding Infrastructure and Platform Engineer. They're building an agentic integration platform that replaces what Accenture, Cognizant, and Infosys traditionally charge millions for - AI agents that gather requirements, write integration code, test it, deploy it, and self-heal when it breaks in production.
Already in production with multi-billion-dollar logistics customers, with more demand than they can keep up with.
They're a team of 5, real revenue from real enterprise customers, and at the inflection point where what gets built next defines the foundation everything else runs on.
What you'll do:- Own the entire infra and platform layer, building a "Vercel for integration runtime" with durable execution, sandboxed isolation, and self-healing capabilities
- Build and scale the agent infrastructure that powers coding agents writing, testing, and deploying integration code in production
- Design the observability layer that gives enterprise customers full visibility into their integrations and agents
- Architect and ship a single-tenant, self-hostable build of the platform so customers can run it inside their own cloud
- Help hire and grow the infrastructure team, leveraging your network and eventually growing into a leadership role
The founders:Led by three founders who lived the integration problem firsthand. One grew up in his family's logistics business and built freight product at one of Europe's leading e-commerce logistics startups from zero to multi-million revenue. Another ran 100+ person warehouse operations at one of the world's largest tech companies, then consulted on enterprise system integrations at a Big Four firm. The technical founder is a builder from age 16 who led offensive security for a nation-state and scaled a previous company from zero to $100M in 3 years. You'll work directly with the CTO as the first infrastructure hire - no layers, no committees.
The role is 5 days in-office in San Francisco's Jackson Square - high-intensity, in-person, builder culture. Lunches together, hard work, craft over politics.
What they're looking for:- 3-8 years in cloud infrastructure and platform engineering at high-growth startups, with strong production intuition
- You've owned platform layers end-to-end - runtime, observability, deployment, isolation
- Comfortable with Kubernetes, AWS/GCP, Docker, and TypeScript across the full infra stack
- Experience with durable execution, sandboxed environments, or self-hostable platform builds is a strong plus
- You thrive in ambiguous, high-intensity environments and ship to production constantly
What they offer:$175K-$275K + 0.5-1.5% equity
- A founding-engineer stake as the first infrastructure hire, with direct collaboration with the CTO
- Three founders who lived the customer problem and have built and scaled before
- Significant ownership setting the technical patterns every future infra engineer builds on
- Path to leadership as the infra team grows
- Visa: O-1, TN, and H-1B transfer sponsorship available (no new H-1B applications)
- The chance to build the AI-native replacement for an entire $50B+ service industry
