Head Grower Natchez Tree Company – Lamar, MS Natchez Tree Company is a fast-growing nursery and tree brokerage serving landscapers and developers across the Southeast and Texas. We are looking for a Head Grower to lead and coordinate production and field operations as we continue to scale toward $3M+ in annual revenue. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows how to grow trees, lead crews, and build efficient systems—from production through harvest and delivery. What You’ll Be Responsible For Production & Crop Management

• Oversee all nursery production (fabric containers + field-grown material)
• Manage fertilization, chemical programs, and plant health
• Monitor irrigation strategy across varying soil types
• Identify and solve crop issues quickly

Field Operations & Leadership

• Lead and support H-2A labor crews
• Work alongside an existing field team to strengthen execution, organization, and overall efficiency
• Plan and coordinate daily/weekly work schedules
• Ensure quality, accountability, and consistency in the field

Harvesting, Staging & Logistics

• Oversee harvesting (digging/pulling) trees
• Stage material accurately and efficiently for outgoing orders
• Coordinate and manage truck loading to maximize space and prevent damage
• Ensure all orders meet quality standards before shipment

Organization & Process Improvement

• Build on the current operation by improving organization, systems, and efficiency as the company grows
• Establish clean, efficient work environments and expectations
• Implement systems for tools, equipment, and workflow
• Help drive a culture of accountability, organization, and pride in the operation

Systems & Infrastructure

• Improve and implement systems for irrigation, fertility, spraying, and equipment
• Build scalable processes as the nursery grows

Inventory & Quality Control

• Maintain clear understanding of inventory and crop stages
• Ensure all material meets Grade 1 standards

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in nursery or plant production (trees/woody ornamentals preferred)
• Strong knowledge of production systems, irrigation, fertility, and chemical programs
• Experience with harvesting, staging, and loading plant material
• Proven ability to organize operations and improve efficiency
• Experience managing crews (H-2A experience is a strong plus)
• Strong leadership presence with a team-oriented mindset
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
• Willing to be in the field daily—this is not a desk role

Compensation

• Salary: $65,000 – $85,000 (based on experience)
