About the role: As the Group Mining Engineer, you will play a critical role in providing technical direction and expertise in mine engineering and planning activities. This position is responsible for ensuring all engineering and planning processes adhere to relevant laws, regulations, standards, and operational procedures. You will also be instrumental in developing strategic plans, schedules, and mine development strategies that drive productivity improvements, optimise mining operations, and maximize profitability. This is a key opportunity to contribute to the success and efficiency of our mining operations. Your duties will include but not limited to:
  • Provides leadership, technical direction and expert input in mine engineering and mine planning activities.
  • Develop and optimise mine designs, plans and schedules for our open pit mines
  • Ensure all mine engineering and mine planning activities comply with and are in accordance with the relevant laws, regulations, standards and operating procedures
  • Develop plans, schedules and mine development strategies to improve and optimise mine productivities and maximise the operations profitability.
  • Establish systems to achieve the above objectives.
  • Participate in meetings to provide direction on mining activities.
  • Contribute to approval processes and documentation.
  • Apply experience and expertise to systematically enhance mine activities, focusing on cost or time reduction, quality improvement, and value creation.


Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in open-pit hard rock mining, preferably in gold
  • Strong knowledge of mining principles, techniques, and equipment.
  • High level of computer literacy, particularly with Whittle/ Deswik and MS office suite.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, strong initiative and organisational ability.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and environmental sustainability.
