Job Description: Assistant PriestVedic Society Hindu TempleThe Vedic Society Hindu Temple is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Assistant Priest to support the spiritual, cultural, and community activities of the temple. The ideal candidate will be deeply rooted in Sanatan Dharma traditions, able to perform a wide range of rituals, and committed to serving the needs of devotees with devotion and humility.Key ResponsibilitiesReligious Duties
  • Perform daily poojas, aartis, abhishekams, and other routine temple rituals.

  • Conduct Vedic ceremonies, including homams, sanskaras, and special religious rituals.

  • Lead and support the organisation of festivals, holy days, and major temple celebrations.

  • Guide devotees in religious practices and offer spiritual support when needed.

  • Maintain the sanctity, purity, and cleanliness of the temple premises and sanctum.

Community & Educational Duties
  • Teach Hinduism and Sanatan Dharma to children and youth in an engaging and age-appropriate manner.

  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with devotees (English preferred; knowledge of additional local languages welcomed).

  • Assist in temple cultural programmes, including bhajans, art activities, and educational workshops.

Temple Support & Management
  • Support temple administration in daily operations as needed.

  • Help plan and decorate the temple for festivals and events; good skills in art and decoration are desirable.

  • Participate actively in the temple’s upcoming major renovation project, including coordination and support tasks.

  • Cook simple, pure vegetarian prasadam/food when required, ensuring cleanliness and adherence to temple standards.

Flexibility
  • Work hours will vary, especially during festivals, special events, or religious observances.

  • Willingness to support all temple needs as required.

Required Qualifications & SkillsReligious & Scriptural Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of Sanatan Dharma, Vedic scriptures, rituals, and traditions.

  • Ability to perform a variety of Vedic poojas, homams, samskaras, and festival ceremonies.

Personal Qualities
  • Good moral character, disciplined lifestyle, and devotional mindset.

  • Respectful, compassionate, and service-oriented attitude toward devotees.

Additional Skills
  • Ability to teach religious values and stories to children.

  • Skills in temple decoration, art, or related creative activities.

  • Basic organisational or administrative ability is an advantage.

  • Proficiency in English; additional languages beneficial.
