Job Description:
Grade 6 - (£33,951 – £39,906 p.a. depending on experience)

Are you enthusiastic, well organised and proactive? Are you interested in supporting Research and Innovation activity in a research-intensive environment? Do you have excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage a wide range of complex activities? Do you have experience of working with external stakeholders?

We are looking for a Research Support Officer who will have excellent administrative, interpersonal and communication skills and be able to demonstrate a high level of personal responsibility and initiative in all areas of the role. You will have the ability to communicate with a diverse range of people (nationally and internationally) and have the ability to problem solve logistics. You will be fully competent using Microsoft Office 365.

Reporting to the Head of Faculty Research Operations, you will work closely with the Director of Research and Innovation, and you will provide comprehensive administrative support for the Research Excellence Framework (REF), working closely with the Unit of Assessment Leader, external REF Administrators and managers and the Faculty Research Office. You will support School activity to increase research funding and maintain strategic partnerships with industry and other external stakeholders.

You will be responsible for the collation and management of research data to support the annual IPE exercise and provide research data (grant applications, publications, grants held, Post-Graduate Researcher submission rates) to the School Management Team, as required.

You will be educated to undergraduate degree level or equivalent and have proven experience of providing high-level support to senior level staff and/or research groups. You will ideally have experience of working with stakeholders or industry, and a broad knowledge of the funding mechanisms for supporting research. You will have excellent organisational skills with a high ability to plan prioritise and manage your own work, maintaining multiple projects simultaneously. With previous experience of working in a varied administrative role ideally in a research environment, you will have a flexible approach to work and a good attention to detail. You will have demonstrated ability to lead, support, or co-ordinate colleagues, with a readiness to take on line management responsibilities. You will be a team-player who also can work independently and to manage competing demands on your time.
