Data Migration Specialist to lead the technical aspects of moving high-volume, sensitive data from legacy systems. You will be instrumental in defining the extraction, transformation, and loading (
ETL) strategy, ensuring data quality, mapping complex schemas, and maintaining strict
compliance with healthcare
regulations. This role demands meticulous attention to detail and expertise in managing data integrity throughout the migration lifecycle.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and execute complex ETL scripts and programmes using tools like SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Informatica, or Python to extract data from various source systems and transform it to meet the target system's schema.
- Define and document detailed data mapping and transformation rules, ensuring consistency and integrity for sensitive information (e.g., patient records, clinical codes, billing data).
- Lead data cleansing and validation efforts before, during, and after migration loads, ensuring a high level of data quality and compliance.
- Collaborate closely with technical architects, clinical stakeholders, and compliance officers to define the scope and schedule of migration phases.
- Optimise SQL queries, ETL processes, and database performance to handle large volumes of historical data within tight migration windows.
- Develop and maintain automated reconciliation reports and audit trails to verify the successful and accurate transfer of all required data for regulatory practises.
- Proactively troubleshoot and resolve complex data discrepancies and technical issues that arise during trial and production loads.
What You'll Bring
- 5+ years of professional experience in a dedicated Data Migration, ETL Development, or Data Warehousing role.
- Expert-level proficiency in SQL for complex querying, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
- Proven, hands-on experience with a major ETL toolset (e.g., SSIS, Informatica, Talend, or specialised migration tools).
- Strong understanding of database architecture, schema design, and data modelling principles.
- Meticulous attention to detail with proven ability to manage data quality and optimise data sets.
- Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance requirements (e.g., healthcare data standards) is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to clearly document complex mapping and migration processes.
