Position: Consultant in Plastic Surgery (Melanoma)
Position Overview Required to fill this replacement post within the Plastic Surgery Department at the Leeds General Infirmary. The successful applicant should possess FRCS(Plast) (or equivalent) and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register. Applicants should have established skills in Melanoma and an additional subspeciality that suits the applicant and the needs of the department including microsurgery. A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable.Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will be a core member of the Leeds Melanoma Service, as well as an additional subspeciality to suit the applicant and department. They should be proficient in all aspects of microsurgery. Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share. • 2.1 To deliver care to patients with Melanoma and an additional subspeciality to suit both the applicant and department at the Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust.
• Out‑patient clinics
• Supervision of patients
• Contribute to Specialist Multi‑disciplinary team meetings
• 2.2 To link with consultant colleagues in other relevant site specialist teams.
• 2.3 To work with colleagues in LGI to deliver acute on call (currently 1 in 13) for Plastic Surgery. This includes both out‑of‑hours cover in addition to acute ward rounds during normal working hours.
• 2.4 To contribute to research, teaching and new developments within the Plastic Surgery service. The post holder will be encouraged to facilitate and contribute to the current clinical research programs on going in the department.
