The Hostel Airlie Beach is a cozy, well-loved backpacker hostel in the heart of a lively party town. While our building has a classic, old-school charm, we pride ourselves on being clean, calm, and welcoming, a quiet oasis for travellers who want to enjoy Airlie Beach while having a comfortable, well-maintained place to stay.We are about to enter an exciting new chapter, with big plans for improvements to take the hostel to the next level. As a backpacker hostel, we are committed to really taking care of our guests, offering a safe, clean, and friendly environment in the midst of a vibrant town. Our mantra is simple: a quiet, clean place in a party town.We are now looking for someone to join our team in a full-time, Supervisor role. You will work closely with Maxime and Hélène, our managers with over 15 years of experience in hospitality and fine dining at luxury hotels. They bring the same attention to detail, passion, and high-level service standards of the palaces, adapted perfectly for a hostel environment. This is a unique opportunity to learn, grow, and develop your hospitality skills while taking ownership of key operational areas.

About the RoleThe Hostel Supervisor is central to the smooth running of the hostel. This is a hands-on leadership position combining team supervision, reception, housekeeping, and basic property maintenance.You will actively participate in cleaning and operational shifts, not just supervising from a distance.When covering the Manager's absence, you will be on-call to ensure operations continue smoothly and to respond to urgent matters if necessary. This is not a daily requirement, only during scheduled Manager leave or absence.

• Holds permanent, unrestricted work rights in Australia (Possibility of visa sponsorship for the successful candidate, depending on their experience and qualifications)

• Holds a valid full Australian driver's licence

Key ResponsibilitiesOperations & Team Leadership

• Assist in the daily management of the hostel
• Lead by example in all operational areas
• Supervise reception and housekeeping teams
• Train and onboard new staff
• Monitor team performance and provide constructive feedback
• Ensure procedures and service standards are consistently followed
• Support staff scheduling and workflow organisation
• Handle guest complaints and internal conflicts calmly and professionally
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and internal policies

Reception Duties (Regular Shifts Required)

• Manage check-ins and check-outs
• Process payments and manage booking systems
• Handle emails, phone calls, and online platforms
• Resolve guest issues efficiently and professionally

Housekeeping Duties (Regular Shifts Required)

• Perform regular cleaning shifts
• Clean rooms and common areas to high standards
• Conduct inspections and quality checks
• Manage linen and cleaning supplies

Caretaking & Property Maintenance

• Perform basic maintenance tasks when required
• Assist with minor repairs and general upkeep
• Monitor the condition of the property and report issues proactively
• Carry out light gardening and outdoor maintenance
• Ensure the property remains clean, organised, and welcoming
