Position OverviewUP Vertical Farms, a pioneering leader in sustainable vertical farming and agri-technology, is seeking an organized, proactive, and detail-oriented HR Supervisor to support its growing workforce and administrative operations. This permanent, on-site full-time role is critical to ensuring effective human resources administration, regulatory compliance, and the smooth day-to-day functioning of office and administrative systems.The HR Supervisor is responsible for the administration and coordination of core HR functions, including recruitment support, orientation, onboarding and offboarding, performance management, metrics, immigration, employee record management, benefits administration, and payroll coordination. The role supports compliance with applicable employment legislation, workplace policies, and internal procedures, and assists with maintaining documentation related to p-files, employment contracts, investigations, performance management, leaves, training and development, and terminations.In addition to HR responsibilities, the role oversees day-to-day administrative operations, including office management, scheduling, document control, insurance, grant writing, and general clerical and administrative tasks as required. The position supports the implementation and continuous improvement of HR, administrative and operational systems and assists with internal audits, reporting, and data tracking related to performance management, workforce metrics, training, and compliance.This position reports to the HR and Admin Manager and works closely with each department managers to support employee lifecycle processes and administrative functions across the organization. Work hours are primarily scheduled during regular daytime business hours, with occasional flexibility required to support operational needs, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations or administrative matters.Work is primarily performed in an office and administrative setting, with regular interaction with production and operations teams as required. The role involves prolonged computer use, multitasking, and managing competing priorities. Use of ADP WorkForceNow, payroll systems, ERP software, and Microsoft Office tools is required. Confidentiality, discretion, and adherence to privacy obligations are mandatory.Performance is evaluated by the HR and Admin Manager and senior management based on accuracy and timeliness of HR and administrative processes, compliance with employment and workplace safety requirements, quality of documentation and reporting, professionalism, reliability, and contribution to UP Vertical Farms’ operational effectiveness.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesInclude but are not limited to:
- Assist with LMIA applications and temporary foreign worker processes.
- Collect, verify, and maintain immigration and employment documentation.
- Track work permits, deadlines, and compliance requirements.
- Liaise with government agencies and support immigration-related inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal and BC legislation and privacy requirements.
- Administer the full employee lifecycle (onboarding, changes, leaves, terminations).
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems (e.g., payroll, HRIS).
- Support leave management, return-to-work processes, and documentation.
- Track HR metrics, employee data, and performance review processes.
- Assist with full-cycle recruitment (job postings, screening, interviews).
- Prepare compliant offer letters and coordinate hiring activities.
- Support candidate sourcing and talent pipeline development.
- Generate HR reports (recruitment, turnover, onboarding, compliance).
- Process employment verification requests.
- Support process improvements and maintain data integrity in HR systems.
- Coordinate engagement initiatives, surveys, and recognition programs.
- Support internal HR communications (policies, notices, updates).
- Assist managers with performance management, leaves, and compliance matters.
- Provide guidance on employment standards and escalate complex issues.
- Support payroll data accuracy and timely processing.
- Assist with benefits administration and maintain knowledge of payroll requirements.
- Support OH&S compliance, training, and incident reporting.
- Participate in hazard assessments and promote workplace safety.
- Provide administrative assistance, reporting, and project support.
- Assist with grants, documentation, and operational tasks.
- Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications- Post-secondary education in Human Resources or related field.
- Minimum 1 year of HR or immigration experience.
- Knowledge of BC employment, privacy, and immigration legislation.
- Experience with LMIA/work permits is an asset.
- Proficiency in HR/payroll systems (e.g., Excel, ADP) preferred.
- Valid driver’s licence and legal eligibility to work in Canada

Compensation and Benefits:- Salary range: $60,000–$65,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
