Metlifecare is seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Technician to maintain our retirement village facilities and ensure residents enjoy a safe, well-maintained, and comfortable living environment. Key Responsibilities:- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance of buildings and facilities
- Complete general repairs, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, and basic maintenance tasks
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from residents and staff
- Coordinate external contractors for specialised repairs and projects
- Maintain village grounds, pathways, lighting, and outdoor facilities
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and building standards
- Keep maintenance records up to date and maintain tools and equipment
- Provide friendly, professional service to residents and support village operations
Skills & Experience- Previous experience in building, facilities, or property maintenance
- Practical skills in general carpentry, painting, plumbing, and repairs
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Full New Zealand driver's licence
Preferred Qualifications- Trade qualification in carpentry, maintenance, or a related field
- Experience in retirement villages, healthcare, hospitality, or residential property maintenance
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements
- Experience coordinating contractors and maintenance schedules
