Job Description:
Maintenance Technician | MetlifecareHelp create safe, comfortable, and welcoming communities for our residents.Metlifecare is seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Technician to maintain our retirement village facilities and ensure residents enjoy a safe, well-maintained, and comfortable living environment. If you enjoy hands-on work and take pride in delivering excellent service, we'd love to hear from you. Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance of buildings and facilities
  • Complete general repairs, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, and basic maintenance tasks
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from residents and staff
  • Coordinate external contractors for specialised repairs and projects
  • Maintain village grounds, pathways, lighting, and outdoor facilities
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and building standards
  • Keep maintenance records up to date and maintain tools and equipment
  • Provide friendly, professional service to residents and support village operations

Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience in building, facilities, or property maintenance
  • Practical skills in general carpentry, painting, plumbing, and repairs
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Full New Zealand driver's licence

Preferred Qualifications
  • Trade qualification in carpentry, maintenance, or a related field
  • Experience in retirement villages, healthcare, hospitality, or residential property maintenance
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements
  • Experience coordinating contractors and maintenance schedules
