For engineers, Austworld offers the opportunity to join a collaborative and people-focused business where technical expertise is valued, and product development has real impact.THE ROLEAs a Mechanical / R&D / Product Engineer at Austworld, you will play a key role in the development, refinement, and improvement of products, components, and mechanical systems.You will work closely with cross-functional teams across engineering, production, quality, procurement, and operations to deliver high-quality, commercially viable solutions. This role is ideal for a mid-to-senior level engineer with strong product development experience and the ability to balance design quality with practical manufacturing and commercial requirements.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and develop mechanical products, components, and assemblies from concept through to production
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation
• Lead or support new product development projects, including prototyping, testing, validation, and design optimisation
•  Analyse product performance and identify opportunities for improvement in functionality, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and quality
• Work closely with production and supply chain teams to support successful product industrialisation and manufacturing implementation
• Conduct engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, material selection, and design reviews
• Investigate technical issues, root causes, and product failures, and implement corrective actions where required

• Support prototype builds, testing programs, and product verification activities
• Ensure designs comply with relevant safety, quality, and regulatory standards
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to develop practical, efficient engineering solutions
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across product design, engineering processes, and manufacturing outcomes
• Provide technical input into project planning, timelines, risk assessments, and engineering change processes

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
• Proven experience in a mechanical engineering, R&D engineering, or product engineering role
• Typically 5+ years of relevant experience in product development, mechanical design, or engineering project delivery
• Strong experience designing and improving physical products or mechanical systems in a commercial or industrial environment
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, CATIA, Siemens NX, or simila
• Experience producing engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications, and other technical documentation
• Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, tolerances, assembly methods, and design-for-manufacture principles
• Experience with prototyping, testing, validation, and structured technical problem-solving
• Ability to work across the full product lifecycle, from concept and design through to production support and continuous improvement
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting capability with a practical, solution-focused mindset
• Good communication skills in English and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and contribute to both project-based and day-to-day engineering activities

PREFERRED/ADVANTAGEOUS EXPERIENCE

• Experience in manufacturing, industrial equipment, consumer products, automotive, technical products, or related sectors
• Familiarity with FEA, simulation tools, mechanical testing, or product performance analysis
• Experience working with suppliers, tooling providers, prototype manufacturers, or offshore production partners
• Exposure to quality systems, product change control, engineering validation, or risk assessment processes
• Previous international work experience or experience in multicultural engineering environments
