We’re recruiting for a high-impact Power Electronics R&D Engineer opportunity with a global technology client in the Fremont, CA area. This role is focused on advanced power electronics, power conversion, AC/DC, DC/DC, HVDC/DC, inverter-based systems, and next-generation high-power conversion platforms for advanced infrastructure, data center power, EV charging, charging systems, and energy storage applications.

This role requires a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Power Conversion, or a closely related field.

Relocation is available for qualified North American candidates, and visa support may be considered, including H1B transfer, TN, and Green Card candidates.

Travel is approximately 20–25%, including international travel to Europe and Asia.

This is not a sustaining engineering or production support role. The focus is advanced development, prototyping, platform design, lab validation, and solving complex high-power engineering challenges at the kW to MW scale.

What You’ll Work On

  • Design and evaluate high-power AC/DC, DC/DC, and HVDC/DC power conversion systems
  • Support advanced R&D, prototype development, reference designs, and platform-level architecture
  • Perform topology trade-offs, efficiency optimization, thermal analysis, EMI analysis, and system validation
  • Lead hands-on lab bring-up, testing, debugging, and performance evaluation
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and drive root-cause analysis
  • Translate customer requirements into engineering direction and design improvements
  • Collaborate with global R&D teams across the U.S., Europe, and Asia
  • Contribute to next-generation platforms for high-density, high-efficiency power systems

What You’ll Bring

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Power Conversion, or a closely related field
  • Hands-on experience with AC/DC, DC/DC, inverter-based, or high-voltage power systems
  • Strong background in lab validation, testing, debugging, and system-level optimization
  • Ability to work from concept through prototype evaluation in an advanced development environment
  • Interest in customer-facing technical problem solving and global engineering collaboration
  • Bilingual skills are a plus, but not required

Additional Details

  • Base salary: $180K–$200K
  • Bonus: 20%
  • Travel: 20–25%, including Europe and Asia
  • Relocation: Available for qualified North American candidates
  • Visa Support: H1B transfer, TN, and Green Card candidates considered

This is an opportunity to join a newly forming R&D team working on real-world, high-power engineering challenges with strong visibility, global collaboration, and meaningful influence over future power conversion platforms.
