Opportunities across Health New Zealand General Physicians and Internal Medicine Specialists work in secondary and tertiary hospitals across Aotearoa (New Zealand). Depending on your location, your role may focus on general inpatient care or include dedicated subspecialty practice. Opportunities include:
Your work may include inpatient and outpatient care, procedural work, clinical governance and registrar supervision. In smaller hospitals, you may take on a broader generalist scope. In larger centres, you may work across both general medicine and a subspecialty area.

What you need to work here To practise as an Internal Medicine Specialist in New Zealand, you must be registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) and hold a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC). Most international applicants need a postgraduate qualification comparable to Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or another recognised internal medicine qualification.

- Annual CME allowance (up to NZD $16,000)
- CME leave (up to 10 days per year)
- Six weeks of annual leave per year
- Twelve public holidays (plus time in lieu if rostered on)
- Reimbursement of MCNZ registration and APC

- Professional indemnity cover paid by your employer
