Role: Water Engineer - Wastewater and Stormwater 💧
Join a nationally recognised consultancy playing a key role in shaping wastewater and stormwater infrastructure across New Zealand. As urban development intensifies in Auckland, public drainage and wastewater systems are under increasing strain, and this consultancy is delivering essential upgrades and new systems that support sustainable growth and climate resilience. Work on critical public infrastructure projects with real community impact, including government-funded new builds and upgrades, new subdivisions, and public network resilience initiatives. Based in either central Auckland or a north Auckland satellite office, you'll design and upgrade stormwater and wastewater networks, deliver pump station infrastructure, develop large-scale pipe systems with hydraulic modeling, and incorporate sustainable features like rain gardens, wetlands, and detention ponds while working with councils, government agencies, iwi, and developers.
Three Positions Available:
💼 Intermediate Engineer: NZD $92,000 to $105,000
💼 Senior Engineer: NZD $115,000 to $125,000
💼 Team Lead: NZD $125,000 to $155,000
Requirements: 🎓
✅ Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering (Washington Accord accredited)
✅ Proven experience in the design of wastewater and stormwater systems, including pump stations and pipelines
✅ Intermediate Level: 5+ years of water engineering experience
✅ Senior Level: 10+ years with advanced technical expertise in hydraulic design and modeling
✅ Team Lead Level: 15+ years with proven project management and team leadership experience
✅ Familiarity with regional and national regulatory frameworks, including council and government processes
✅ Experience with hydraulic design, pipe sizing, alignments, material selection, and modeling software
✅ Knowledge of sustainable stormwater features including rain gardens, wetlands, soakage systems, and detention ponds
✅ Ability to prepare and support resource consent applications
✅ Senior/Team Lead: Experience managing project delivery, mentoring junior engineers, and coordinating with stakeholders
✅ Collaborative working style with strong communication skills
