Overview Of The Role
People Services Manager (permanent)
This is an exceptional opportunity to join UK Biobank as our People Services Manager in our new People and Development Team.
In this role you'll lead end to end core People services to UK Biobank spanning the employee life cycle and line-manage a team of People and Development Coordinators. You will also be responsible for delivering people related projects that enable efficient and effective ways of working across all people activities. Some travel to other sites including Newcastle, Reading, Bristol and Oxford will be required in order to provide an effective service.
You Will
- Be UKB's subject matter expert on core people processes including Policy, Reward, Pensions, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (data collection), People Technology and People Data and all aspects of Employee administration.
- Oversee all team activity across employee lifecycle administration including offers of employment, pensions and payroll information (in conjunction with Finance).
- Lead the annual pay review administration programme and regular pay benchmarking activities
- Analyse and review current people processes in order to streamline and continuously improve more efficient ways of working across UKB.
- Advise on best practice and greater use of people information systems/technology
- Provide regular data and people metrics, including to the Executive Management Team
- Maintain and continuously improve UKB's employment policy framework and associated processes ensuring they are fit for purpose, easy to understand and access.
- Manage contracts with third party providers for people services including Occupational Health, Benefits, Life Assurance, Eye Care Schemes, Vaccinations, Pay Benchmarking, Employee Engagement Surveys and People Technology Systems (e.g. Cezanne, Pinpoint).
- Act as UKB's designated person for certificate of sponsorship (CoS) licences, DBS checks, pensions contact
About You
To succeed in this role, you will:
- Engage, inspire and lead a team to deliver successful Core People Services outcomes to the organisation across the employee life cycle, accurately and on time.
- Have significant experience in the transformation of People Services; Processes, Policies and working practices to drive efficiency across an organisation including in reward, recognition and pensions.
- Have significant experience working with People systems to provide data to provide workforce analysis/trends and decision ready information to Senior Leaders
- Be able to expertly influence and coach Leaders at all levels on all aspects of Core People Services delivery including Policy, Reward, transformation activities, Employment Law, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
- Have expert knowledge in the management of immigration issues, certificate of sponsorship and right to work regulations
- Maintain up to date, relevant Employment Law knowledge, experienced in overseeing the design and embedding of people policy and keeping the organisation legally complaint and up to date.
- Demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills, excellent planning and organisational skills to manage multiple projects/work activities at the same time.
- Have a proven track record of leading/managing people change
- Be able to manage multiple projects alongside BAU activity, balancing delivery of conceptual work with attention to detail and hands on delivery.
- Be able to influence decision makers by producing relevant insight/data analysis to support transformation projects.
- Possess a relevant HR qualification and membership of CIPD (desirable)
