About the role We have a wonderful opportunity to join New Zealand's premier tertiary children's hospital as a permanent full-time Paediatric Surgeon. This role provides: * Participation in the provision of acute and elective surgical services within the Paediatric Surgical Department. * Active participation in the Paediatric Vascular Access Team. In addition, a subspecialty interest in Thoracic Surgery, Surgical Oncology and/or Paediatric Trauma is strongly desirable. The role contributes to the delivery of inpatient and outpatient care in alignment with service requirements and the vision of the Department of Paediatric Surgery * Administrative activities, such as audit and other projects within the department. * Participation in medical under-graduate and post-graduate teaching and in departmental research. Auckland is a challenging and rewarding environment to practice Paediatric Surgery as we see a broad range of childhood illnesses and injuries with a high level of complexity and acuity. The department is a purpose built facility with state-of-the-art equipment. Starship is a dedicated paediatric healthcare service and major teaching centre, providing family centred care to neonates, children and young people throughout New Zealand and the South Pacific. Starship is a part of Health New Zealand and is the only comprehensive children's hospital in New Zealand serving a population of approximately 1 million children. About you We welcome applications from those who: * Are an experienced Paediatric Surgeon * Registered as a Medical Practitioner with FRACS Paediatric Surgery or equivalent * Vocationally registered or eligible for this in the speciality of Paediatric General Surgery with the Medical Council of New Zealand. * Have completed a Paediatric Surgery training programme recognised by Royal Australasian College of Surgeons * Can demonstrate an interest in the supervision and teaching of junior RMOs, particularly registrars in training * Have gained broad training and experience across the breadth of acute and elective Paediatric Surgery If you are an overseas applicant and have overseas medical qualifications, you will be required to provide EPIC source verification of your qualifications for your registration application.
