Job Summary Position: Early Childhood Educator (ECE) – Level 1, 2, or 3 Location: Edmonton, Alberta (House-based Daycare – Main Floor & Basement Day Home) Hours: Full-time (40 hours/week) Start Date: Immediate / Flexible About Us We operate a licensed 42-child daycare on the main floor and a 6-child day home in the basement of our house. Responsibilities
- Supervise and care for children according to age group
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities
- Maintain child records, daily logs, and adherence to licensing requirements
- Support children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development
- Assist with meals, hygiene, and daily routines
- Collaborate with other staff and the daycare director
Requirements
- ECE Certification: Level 1, 2, or 3
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification
- Vulnerable Sector Check (police check)
- Passion for working with children
- Good communication skills in English
- Reliable, responsible, and flexible

Duties - Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that align with educational standards and individual student needs.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages curiosity and learning.
- Monitor and assess children's progress, providing feedback to parents and guardians regularly.
- Support children with special needs or disabilities by adapting activities and collaborating with specialists as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, developmental milestones, and other required documentation.
- Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and administrators to support children's development and well-being.
- Utilize computer skills for record keeping, lesson planning, and communication purposes.
- Manage classroom routines efficiently through excellent organizational skills and time management.
- Demonstrate leadership by guiding assistant staff or volunteers when applicable.
Qualifications - Proven experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting; classroom experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles, child development, and classroom management techniques.
- Bilingual abilities in English and French are highly desirable to support diverse student populations.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in special education is a plus.
- Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—to effectively engage with children, parents, and team members.
- Computer operation skills for documentation, lesson planning, and communication tools.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and guide young learners.
