If you've never worked in HFT, here's what most engineers don't realise until they're in it: the problems are some of the most technically demanding in existence. Latency measured in nano/picoseconds, systems that have to be right the first time, and software where the margin between good and exceptional is worth millions. No other industry asks this much of its engineers, and if you're the kind of person who's wired for that, nothing else will ever feel quite as sharp. They're selective to the point of being difficult and that's precisely why I'm talking to you. If you're a big tech L5 or above and you're ready for a different kind of hard, this is worth three minutes of your time.
What they need from you

• L5+ big tech or comparable. Not internal tech teams, not consulting arms, not "tech-adjacent"
• A track record of solving genuinely hard, deep technical problems. The kind with no obvious answer
• Someone who works autonomously and thinks for themselves. Direction-takers need not apply
• Language-agnostic. They care about how you think, not which syntax you prefer
• Ego left at the door. You'll be surrounded by very smart people and expected to learn from them
