The PositionStarting in July 2025, the Head of School will be a full-time permanent position taking place at the North Campus (18 Atkinson Ave, Thornhill, ON L4J 8C8). The Head of the School will be a dynamic, charismatic leader who will represent Netivot HaTorah to all internal and external stakeholders of the school and to the Greater Toronto Jewish community.
The Head of School is the administrative and educational leader and spiritual role model of our school, promoting the success and well-being of all students. The Head of School:● Champions the school’s vision and advances the institution according to itsmission.● Maintains and improves Netivot HaTorah’s pursuit of academic excellence.● Communicates the school’s vision and strategic plan to all stakeholders togetherwith the Board of Directors.● Is a key leader in the strategic planning process, implementation of goals andevaluation of success.● Builds a culture of trust, respect and accountability together with the senioradministrative team.● Sets and ensures that goals are met by all senior staff.● Encourages and organizes professional development of staff and administrators.● Represents, fosters and maintains relationships with Jewish Federation ofToronto, local and international foundations and other funding agencies.● Is the primary spokesperson for the school.● Maintains and ensures school accreditation, compliance with governmentregulations and standards, and the achievement of educational standards.● Establishes enrollment goals and ensures these are met by actively managingthe recruitment and retention process.● Establishes synergistic relationships between all offices (e.g., Marketing/Admissions/ Development) to ensure greatest efficiency and effectiveness ineffort.Requirements:
- Several years of experience as a senior teacher or department head
- Master’s degree in Education
- Teaching experience in the classroom
- Must be fluent in both English and Hebrew
The Head of School is the sole employee of the Board of Directors and shall:● Be a member ex officio of all standing committees of the Board of Directors.● Be the representative of the Board of Directors in its relations with the faculty,staff, students and the patrons of the organization.● Select and hire properly qualified persons to serve as members of the faculty andadministration.● Determine goals of senior educational staff; have direct supervision of the facultyand staff; and shall coordinate the activities of the entire organization.
- The Head of School shall hold regular meetings of the faculty and staff and see that the
general policies of the Board are understood and followed.
General responsibilities of the Head of School include (but are not restricted to) the following:● Manage the sometimes competing demands of the various constituencies of theschool.● Work with the Board of Directors, its President, and its committees in carrying outestablished school policies; to review those policies and make recommendationsfor changes.● Supervise all programs of the school (academic, ethical, athletic, and otherextracurricular programs); monitor curriculum, grading, testing, and reporting toparents; prepare for and conduct periodic program evaluations; submit reports toexternal agencies as required; establish disciplinary policies and standards ofconduct.● Supervise the Executive Director and business office staff in the preparation ofpreliminary and final budgets; to monitor income, expenditures, collections, andcash flow; maintain appropriate financial records; oversee the employee benefitprogram.● Supervise and evaluate the Admissions department in determining programs andsetting goals for the recruitment of students, including marketing and outreach,information dissemination, applicant testing, and interviews and acceptancedecisions.● Establish enrollment goals and ensure these are met by actively managing therecruitment and retention process.● Represent the school to all of its constituents including neighborhood, parents,students, alumni, business community, faculty, and staff.● Supervise the Development staff and determine goals and development efforts tocultivate and effect generous support of the school.● Coordinate the efforts of the Marketing department in promoting the school’simage among the many stakeholders and determine yearly goals.● Together with the Executive Director handle all matters regarding employment,retention, and dismissal of personnel; salaries and contracts; job assignmentsand performance evaluation; and orientation and training; to prepare employeehandbooks and maintain appropriate personnel records.● Represent the school in its relations with community and government agencies.If you are interested in learning more about the position and/or nominating someone forthe role, please email .Wage: $120/hr to $140/hrBenefits include:
