The OpportunityWe are seeking a Director of Manufacturing Operations & Operational Excellence to elevate how our operations perform at every level. This is a senior leadership role responsible for developing people, strengthening systems, and creating clarity, accountability, and consistency across manufacturing operations.The Plant Manager will report directly to this role. Working closely with the CEO, this position acts as a strategic partner, translating company strategy into operational execution and long-term capability building.This is not a traditional hands-on plant management role. It is a builder role — focused on leadership development, operational discipline, and cultural stability. Key Responsibilities Leadership Development & Coaching •Coach and develop the Plant Manager into a confident, autonomous operational leader•Provide structured mentorship, feedback, and performance development to Shift Leaders and operational support roles (Production, Quality, NPD)•Build a leadership development pipeline and succession framework within operationsManufacturing Operations & Systems•Establish and refine SOPs, role clarity, and standardized operating procedures•Implement daily and weekly accountability rhythms supported by clear KPIs•Drive consistent performance across throughput, quality, uptime, and labour planning•Reduce operational firefighting through disciplined issue-resolution and escalation processesCross-Functional Alignment•Improve coordination between Manufacturing, Quality, New Product Development, and Sales•Support the effective execution of new product introductions into production•Act as a stabilizing operational presence across departments Organizational Clarity & Culture •Document organizational structures, roles, workflows, and expectations•Strengthen communication, morale, and alignment across operations•Champion a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvementStrategic Partnership to the CEO•Translate business strategy into clear operational plans and priorities•Support capacity planning, make/buy decisions, and long-term operational improvement initiatives•Provide executive-level insight on operational risks, performance trends, and improvement opportunities What Success Looks Like (12–24 Months) •A strong, autonomous Plant Manager and operational leadership team•Predictable, stable manufacturing performance with reduced downtime and scrap•Clear, documented systems and accountability across operations•Improved engagement, collaboration, and cross-functional effectiveness•Operations positioned to scale in support of business growth Qualifications •Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related technical field •10+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing (custom manufacturing, plastics, or extrusion preferred)•Proven success in developing leaders and building operational systems•Strong understanding of production planning, quality systems, and continuous improvement•Strategic mindset with the ability to operate at both executive and operational levels•Comfortable leading through influence rather than direct supervision Compensation & Support •Salary range: $120,000 – $150,000 annually•Participation in the company profit-sharing program Canplex Profiles Inc. is a 100% Indigenous-owned, equal-opportunity employer committed to diversity, inclusion and empowering every team member to succeed.
