Help build the foundations of Australia's emerging naval nuclear capability and Your Opportunity
Mott MacDonald is seeking motivated Nuclear Safety Case Engineers to join our growing Defence and Nuclear team in Adelaide. This is an exciting opportunity to work on nationally significant programmes while learning from recognised nuclear specialists across Australia, the United Kingdom and our wider global business.
As a Nuclear Safety Case Engineer, you will support the development and delivery of safety case and safety assurance activities across complex nuclear and defence programmes. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will develop your technical capability while contributing to projects that will help shape Australia's future sovereign defence capability. In this role you will:
- Support the preparation of nuclear safety case documentation.
- Assist with hazard identification and risk assessment activities.
- Undertake technical analyses and safety assessments.
- Contribute to safety substantiation and engineering justification work.
- Develop technical reports and project deliverables.
- Work closely with experienced safety case practitioners and subject matter experts.
- Participate in client and project team meetings.
- Build expertise across a range of nuclear safety disciplines.
Experience or interest in one or more of the following areas would be beneficial:
- Nuclear safety cases
- Safety assessment methodologies
- Risk and ALARP assessments
- Hazard identification studies
- Functional safety
- Engineering substantiation
- Probabilistic and deterministic assessment techniques
- Defence or other regulated industries
About You
- A degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, science or a related STEM discipline.
- Experience in nuclear, defence or another highly regulated industry, or a strong desire to develop a career within the sector.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- A collaborative approach and willingness to learn.
- A commitment to delivering high-quality technical work.
- An interest in developing toward Chartered Engineer status.
