Job Description:
Our client is running a Karaoke Restaurant with an in-house premium Chinese cuisine kitchen Job Roles & Responsibilities The Chef / Cook is responsible for the preparation, cooking and presentation of authentic Chinese cuisine while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene and kitchen operations. Key Responsibilities: Plan, prepare and cook a variety of authentic Chinese dishes, including wok-fried, steamed, braised and roasted specialties, in accordance with the restaurant's menu and quality standards. Demonstrate advanced knife skills and wok cooking techniques to ensure efficient food preparation and consistent presentation. Assist in menu development by introducing seasonal dishes, improving recipes and maintaining food quality and consistency. Monitor food quality, portion control and stock levels, and order ingredients as required to minimise waste and ensure operational efficiency. Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff during service, ensuring food safety, cleanliness and compliance with Food Standards, workplace health and safety requirements, and company policies. Inspect and maintain kitchen equipment, ensuring it is used safely and reported for maintenance when necessary. Work collaboratively with the restaurant management team to deliver a high-quality dining experience for customers. Skills & Experience The successful candidate should possess: Minimum three (3) years' experience as a Chef in a Chinese restaurant. Strong knife skills and extensive wok cooking experience. Experience preparing authentic Chinese cuisine in a fast-paced commercial kitchen. Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and HACCP principles. Ability to work evening, weekend and late-night shifts. Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure. Annual salary from AUD $80,000 plus superannuation (commensurate with skills and experience). Visa sponsorship may be offered to the successful candidate.
