Te whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity We have an exciting opportunity for a talented Bridge Engineer to join our team in Whangārei. If you are passionate about bridges and enjoy variety in your work, this role offers the chance to contribute to meaningful projects across Northland. You will work across the assessment, strengthening, and delivery of existing bridge structures, undertaking complex analysis and contributing to retrofit and refurbishment design. You will gain exposure from concept through to construction while continuing to build your technical capability. We have a strong pipeline of work maintaining structures on highways and roads across the Northland region. Our responsibilities span a wide range of assets including bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and river protection structures.
This role is well suited to an intermediate engineer looking to broaden their experience across design, site delivery, and asset management, while working as part of a supportive nationwide structures team.
In this role, you will undertake complex analysis of existing structures, support bridge projects through construction, assist with or manage inspections, and continue to develop your project and client management capability. You will have access to a truly multidisciplinary business, drawing on leading subject matter and technical experts to support your projects and professional development.
Ko wai koe | About you You will be a qualified structural engineer with experience designing and or assessing bridges. You will also have experience designing remediation works or retrofit and strengthening works for existing bridges, and be familiar with the design delivery process from concept development through to detailed design and construction.
You are passionate about creating innovative solutions that extend and preserve existing structures, helping to reduce environmental impact. You enjoy working collaboratively, bring strong problem solving skills, and have a genuine desire to continue learning and growing your technical and consulting capability. You also value having fun along the way. This role would suit someone with at least three years’ experience post-graduation. However, we are open to exploring opportunities with candidates at different stages of their career and shaping the role around your experience and motivations.
