About the Role: Join a dynamic and well-established Cardiology Department committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate care across a broad spectrum of acute and chronic cardiac conditions.
Our multidisciplinary team includes 15 consultant cardiologists, fellows, trainees, specialist nurses, sonographers and allied health professionals, all working collaboratively to provide exceptional patient outcomes. With a strong focus on innovation, education, and community service, we offer a supportive and progressive environment for career development.
The newly expanded Heart Care Centre at Canberra Hospital features cutting-edge facilities including a 32-bed Acute Cardiac Care Unit, two dedicated cardiac catheterisation labs, and a state-of-the-art electrophysiology suite.
Our Interventional Cardiology Service performs over 900 coronary interventions annually and provides 24/7 primary PCI for STEMI patients. The Echocardiography Unit conducts more than 4,000 studies each year, including advanced imaging modalities and emergency services. We also offer robust outpatient programs, a nurse-led cardiac rehabilitation service, and a dedicated Heart Failure Clinic focused on patient education and reducing readmissions.
Strong research links are maintained with the ANU, University of Canberra and the Australian Catholic University. All specialties are represented with the exception of organ transplantation. The hospital has well developed post graduate teaching programs. A fully equipped medical library is available on site with a large collection of hard copy and on line journals and textbooks.
The preferred candidate maybe considered for a conjoint position in ANU at an academic level commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. The academic position will be held for the duration of the Canberra Health Services employment and will be subject to regular performance reviews. No remuneration is attached to the University position. The employee will be responsible to the University on academic matters and to The Canberra Hospital & Health Services / Canberra Health Services for clinical/ research matters.

To be awarded a position with CHS the successful candidate will be required to undertake the following:- Hold Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
- Meet credentialing requirements and receive an Endorsed scope of clinical practice from the Medical Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC)
- Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
- Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.
