WEST STREET CAFE-BAKERYPosition: BakerEmployment Type: Full-TimeLocation: Hadfield VIC 3046Salary: $70,000 – $80,000 per annum + SuperannuationAbout the OpportunityWest Street Cafe-Bakery is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Baker to join our professional team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical baking skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality products in a fast-paced commercial environment.Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, bake, and present a wide range of breads, rolls, pastries, and other baked goods to a consistently high standard
  • Accurately measure, mix, knead, and process doughs in accordance with established recipes and production schedules
  • Monitor and control all stages of the baking process, including fermentation, proofing, and baking
  • Prepare fillings, custards, creams, and sauces, and perform finishing and decorative work on baked products
  • Ensure product quality, consistency, and presentation meet business and customer expectations
  • Maintain strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards (including HACCP principles)
  • Operate and maintain baking equipment safely and efficiently
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and inventory control when required
  • Collaborate with team members to develop and introduce new bakery and pastry products
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient work environment at all times
  • Provide support with customer service and front-of-house operations as needed
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of production processes and product quality

Selection Criteria
  • Certificate III in Baking or equivalent qualification (essential)
  • Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in a commercial bakery or kitchen environment
  • Strong knowledge of baking techniques, dough handling, and pastry preparation
  • Sound understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices (HACCP knowledge preferred)
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a high-volume environment
  • High level of attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and public holidays as required
