Job Description:
Hum was founded in 2019 to make rail transportation safer and smarter. Our products provide railroads, rail shippers, and railcar owners with the most advanced sensors for applications like predictive railcar maintenance, live railcar weights as accurate as a scale, and next generation fleet monitoring tools. Hum is now entering a growth phase as it seeks to meet the needs of its customers across multiple continents. Hum is looking for the right people to join our team as we work to create incredible products that modernize rail transportation. Hum is hiring a Marketing Strategist to lead our scaling efforts. This role will oversee all customer and stakeholder interactions. The successful candidate will have experience in and a desire to build brands. This is a once-in-a-career opportunity for the right person.   What you’ll be doing  30,000 Foot View – Hum is a company that takes the path less traveled. It’s easy to get stuck and become a follower of competitors. Instead, we’re looking for leaders who can think out of the box to target the spaces not yet occupied. The right candidate will be able to look at the big picture, break it down into its individual parts, and chart a clear path through the noise. Best-In-Class Engineering – Hum aims to be the premier engineering firm in the transportation telematics space. Our customers come to us to solve their challenges because our depth of expertise far surpasses anything our competitors can do. We don’t cut corners. We’re not building products for the Walmart bargain bin. We’re building best-in-class hardware and software that pushes the envelope on what’s possible.  Although this is not an engineering role, we’re looking for analytical thinkers who like to level up their performance each and every day just as our engineering team does.     What we’re looking for  Fundamental Thinkers – No situation is the same and no two projects or customers are alike. We start from basic principles of physics and mechanics to engineer best-in-class products.    MacGuyver Genes – There’s no book with answers in the back to solve our customers’ challenges. Our team of engineers are experts in resourcefulness and creativity to unlock the best path forward. Never Satisfied – There’s always something more to improve. Even after we deliver for our customers, we’re constantly integrating the latest technology developments to get better every day.  Responsibilities·        Build the brand of an up-and-coming rail technology company by developing and refining brand guidelines, visual identity, and messaging that resonate with key stakeholders in the rail industry.·        Define strategic actions for driving market awareness, including market research, competitive analysis, and the creation of comprehensive marketing plans tailored to global expansion.·        Execute on those actions through various media and copy creation, such as social media campaigns, content marketing, email newsletters, webinars, and promotional materials.·        Communicate nuanced marketing insights and performance metrics to non-marketing stakeholders.·        Collaborate with product, sales, and engineering teams to align marketing efforts with business goals and product launches.·        Establish best practices for marketing operations, including content quality, analytics tracking, and campaign optimization standards.·        Analyze campaign performance and optimize strategies across digital and traditional channels.·        Influence the company’s marketing roadmap by evaluating emerging tools and proposing strategic advancements in digital marketing and brand storytelling. Ideal qualities:·        5+ years of experience in marketing, with a focus on B2B technology or industrial sectors. ·        Proven track record in building and scaling brands for emerging tech companies, demonstrated through successful campaigns that increased market visibility. ·        Intuitive design and communication skills.·        Expert-level experience with digital marketing tools and platforms, including SEO, social media (e.g., LinkedIn, X), content management systems, and analytics tools like Google Analytics. ·        Proficiency in content creation, including copywriting for various formats such as blogs, whitepapers, videos, and ad copy. ·        Strong experience in strategic planning, including market segmentation, positioning, and go-to-market strategies. ·        Deep expertise in performance marketing and data-driven decision-making, with a track record of driving measurable growth (e.g., lead generation, brand awareness metrics). ·        Proficiency in tools like Adobe Creative Suite, HubSpot, or similar for design and automation. ·        Proven ability to lead complex marketing projects from concept to execution in resource-limited settings. ·        Strong analytical skills using tools like spreadsheets, dashboards, and A/B testing frameworks. ·        Excellent communication skills to articulate marketing concepts to diverse stakeholders.
