Job Description:
Technical Safety Engineers (All Levels) – Norwich | Staff or Contract | Sponsorship Available
NES Fircroft is proud to be partnering with one of the world’s leading independent Oil & Gas companies in their search for Technical Safety Engineers to join their growing QSHE team in Norwich.
Whether you're looking for a staff position with excellent benefits (including relocation support and visa sponsorship) or a contract role, this is a fantastic long-term opportunity with a company known for its innovation, safety focus, and impact in the Southern North Sea.
The Role As a Technical Safety Engineer, you’ll support the safe and efficient operation of offshore assets. Working within the QSHE team, you’ll act as the internal expert on safety engineering—ensuring compliance with UK regulations and helping shape best practices across the business.
Consequence Modelling is Essential The client performs all consequence modelling in-house. You must have hands-on experience with tools such as PHAST (and ideally FLARESIM). This is a key aspect of the role and not something that can be picked up later.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and facilitate HAZID, ALARP, Bowtie, and Total Risk Management studies
  • Build Barrier Diagrams and develop risk visualisation tools
  • Carry out consequence modelling using PHAST and FLARESIM
  • Conduct mini QRAs using event and fault trees
  • Perform Hazardous Area Classification and FERAs
  • Contribute to Safety Case changes and 5-Year Thorough Reviews
  • Apply knowledge of COMAH regulations and ideally CFD tools

What We're Looking For:
  • A degree in Process Safety, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)
  • Demonstrable experience with PHAST and consequence modelling tools – essential
  • Proficiency in BowTie XP, PHA-Pro, and FLARESIM or other modelling software
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Organised, analytical, and confident in technical decision-making

Why Apply? You’ll be joining a high-performing team working on impactful onshore and offshore projects across the UKCS. Whether you’re an experienced contractor or seeking long-term staff employment, this is your chance to work with a company that values technical depth, safety-first thinking, and innovation.
