This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated pharmacist to get involved in delivering the digital medicines transformation within Hywel Dda University Health Board.
We are looking for an experienced pharmacist with a passion for digital transformation to get involved in the implementation of electronic prescribing and medicines administration (ePMA) in the Health Board.
The post holder will provide pharmacy expertise and clinical leadership within the ePMA programme. They will be a digital champion, supporting staff in the transformation process and improving digital literacy. They will be a key liaison between the clinical teams and digital project teams. An excellent level of written and verbal communication is required, with highly developed negotiation and influencing skills.
This is a key role to ensure the ePMA system is designed and configured to support safe prescribing and staff workflows, and that it is optimised to transform medicines processes and enhance patient care. This role will be supported by the lead pharmacist for digital medicines management systems, a wider team of clinical informaticians and technical colleagues .
Main duties of the job
This is a Health Board wide role with the base location to be agreed between the post holder and the lead pharmacist.
The post holder will work alongside the lead pharmacist in designing and implementing the ePMAsystem, providing professional oversight of the system and any subsequent upgrades, to ensure patient safety. They will provide expert advice to the wider Digital Team on medicines prescribing, supply and administration in relation to ePMA. This role will involve engaging with staff, leading on design and configuration workshops and proactively identifying and developing new ways of working. There will be an expectation to attend local and National groups relevant to ePMA and to work collaboratively with other Health Board ePMA teams.
Implementation of the ePMA system will involve developing new standard operating procedures (SOPs), analysing relevant drug data to influence decisions and support benefits analysis.
This role will require flexibility, including the ability to work across a 7-day/24-hour rota during key implementation phases. Regular travel across Health Board sites is essential.
