Position: Finance Business Partner - Income
Finance Business Partner – Income Closing date: 18 May 2026
Salary: £66,582 – £77,368 per annum (pro rata) Location: Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, OUH Cowley, Oxford, OX4 2PG Job Summary Senior strategic role within the Finance Directorate, responsible for leading and protecting the Trust’s income position. The role manages approximately £1.6 bn per annum in income, overseeing all NHS income streams and ensuring accurate planning, validation, reporting and maximising income.Main Duties
  • Provide strategic leadership for all income streams, including commissioner contracts, provider‑to‑provider agreements and specialised commissioning.
  • Lead the Trust’s annual income planning process and support long‑term financial modelling.
  • Oversee the full monthly income assurance cycle, including validation, reconciliation and reporting.
  • Lead and develop the Income Team, setting high standards of performance, assurance and customer service.
  • Act as a senior adviser to the Deputy Director of Finance, CFO and executive colleagues on income risks, opportunities and system changes.
  • Represent the Trust in negotiations and discussions with ICBs, NHS England, DHSC and external providers.

Person Specification – Qualifications Essential
  • Fully qualified accountant (CCAB or other equivalent).

Desirable
  • Evidence of postgraduate qualification or further professional learning.
  • Registered and active continued professional development.

Experience / Skills – Essential
  • Over ten years’ experience working in a finance department of a large organisation, preferably within the NHS.
  • Substantial experience advising finance and non‑finance managers to a senior level on complex financial information.
  • Expert knowledge of the NHS Payment Scheme rules, counting & coding, national tariff, local payment approaches, blended payment models, specialised commissioning arrangements and cross‑provider commercial agreements.
  • Significant experience setting budgets and performing financial forecasting.

Experience / Skills – Desirable
  • In‑depth expert knowledge of contracting and commissioning systems in an NHS acute provider organisation.
  • Expert knowledge of NHS financial information systems and advice on their development.
  • Knowledge of service line reporting, patient‑level costing and NHS reference costs.
  • Significant experience working in a financial management position in the NHS post‑qualification.
