Engineering Lead (Data) - Sydney- Global Prop Trading Firm

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in the APAC head office of a tech-focused market-maker with groundbreaking success in the high frequency trading space. Now looking to hire a highly effective hands-on tech lead and software engineer to join the team responsible for developing the next-generation data platform for research and real-time trading.

A hybrid leadership and engineering position, your core responsibilities will include working with colleagues across the firm to define the team's strategy and roadmap, and executing that vision with your team of 6-7 data engineers. This role offers the opportunity to build the team and mentor engineers to reach their full potential, alongside meaningful hands-on time contributing key designs and production code.

Requirements:

• 7+ years' engineering experience delivering production platforms; including 2+ years of leading teams
• Solid experience with distributed systems & reliability fundamentals, including partitioning, replication, consistency/availability tradeoffs
• Expertise with at least one of: Python/C++/Java/Rust, plus solid API and system design skills
• Data platform fundamentals, including batch/stream processing, table formats, object storage, SQL.
• Experience making architectural decisions on IT solutions, system design & implementation
• Exceptional communication skills with all stakeholders
