Operate equipment to load seed potatoes onto lines to ship on trucks Move and set up potato conveyor and piler line, lay out culverts, guide potato trucks to potato line, monitor flow of potatoes from trucks onto potato line, remove corn stalks, dirt, rock, rotten potatoes and other debris from potato line, position culverts for ventilation system, monitor potato line to make sure potatoes are not backing up, clean dirt and debris from work area with shovels and brooms and load into wheelbarrow, dump wheelbarrows into skid-steer, empty skid-steer into debris truck and weigh at scale, empty debris truck, ensure all potatoes are removed from equipment and trucks and sanitize equipment between lots and fields, clean and sanitize line and trucks, add wood chips to floor off refrigerated trucks. Operate machinery to dig and windrow potatoes, load potatoes from windrow with harvester, drive field truck alongside harvester, operate equipment to remove excess dirt from potatoes prior to loading potatoes on trucks to be driven to storage buildings, drive trucks between fields and storage buildings, clean and sanitize all equipment between seed lots and fields, hand dig potato samples, and move equipment between fields. Collect potatoes for post-harvest disease testing. Weigh and cut samples collected for post-harvest testing of potatoes, set up and fill large plastic totes for storing potatoes, move totes around with fork lift, move equipment between storages, and collect potato samples off of the line. Core potatoes and place cores in plastic bags or on FTA cards. Field work begins at assigned time as early as daylight. Work at storage buildings begins about an hour after field work and ends one to two hours later than field work. Weed fields and prepare fields for harvest and harvest equipment including tree removal, fix fence that may have been broken during harvest. Perform routine maintenance and repairs to farm equipment and ensure equipment is in good working condition and adheres to all safety rules. Operate farm equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Maintain equipment including adding fluids and grease, adding fuel, changing propane tanks on forklifts, and adding air to tires. Drive vehicles to haul equipment, supplies, workers, and tools. Move all equipment to shop/warehouse and prepare equipment for winter. May be asked to drive workers to fields, housing, and grocery stores. Workers will need 3 months experience in potato harvesting. The employer will conduct pre-hire drug screen and may also conduct drug testing for cause after hire. The employer's intent is to pre-hire drug screen all employees in safety sensitive jobs. This is the protocol and employment policy with the Employer for both Domestic and Foreign workers and is conducted at the expense of the employer. Foreign workers will be tested during the recruitment process in their home country and Domestic workers will be notified of the procedure for their drug testing. Drug testing may also be conducted post-employment and at the expense of the employer as stated in accordance the Departmental regulations at 20 CFR sec.655.122(b).
