Lecturer in Sport Coaching and Performance Analysis (UN5316)

About the Job Part time: 0.8FTE/29.6 hours per week Interview date: 5 August 2025 The University of Northampton is seeking an inspirational lecturer to join an active and collegiate team, with a culture of student-focused teaching and high impact research. The successful applicant will be expected to make a significant contribution to teaching and learning in the Sport & Exercise subject area. The post would suit an individual with expertise and experience in sport coaching science, strength and conditioning, performance analysis (including proficiency on appropriate software), skill acquisition and motor control and / or sport psychology. Applications from individuals with an interest in the identification of talent, long-term athlete development, performance coaching, working with multidisciplinary sport coaching teams and / or coach development pathways would be welcomed. As an academic, you will also be expected to contribute to the research and scholarly output of the subject area and work collegiately with other researchers within the Faculty and wider University.  Research and scholarship are supported through our research centres, mentor scheme, and twenty-five days’ leave for scholarly activity. We want you to be able to carry out your work in a way that best supports UON and our students, but also you as an individual. We understand this may vary between different areas of the university as well as from one person to another.  With Smarter Working you can work with increased flexibility, if you would like to, which can facilitate greater freedom and autonomy. However, there will be an expectation to carry out teaching duties appropriate to the session type, meetings with staff and students, and personal tutor support should this require a physical, on-campus presence at various times. About you  You will have a solid background in sport coaching science and performance analysis, and have experience in the delivery of high-quality teaching and assessment materials. A PhD qualification (or being close to completion) is desirable, whilst experience of teaching and effective use of digital learning technologies in HE, is essential. Furthermore, you will hold a professional body coaching qualification and be proficient in the use of performance analysis software (e.g. SportsCode, NacSport). The successful candidate will be ICT literate and have experience in leading modules and programmes in HE settings. A track record of effective partnership working to develop scholarship and employability opportunities in community and performance sport settings would be highly advantageous. You will be highly disciplined, organised, supportive, and able to work collegiately within a team. The ability to produce research publications, successful grant applications, and/or generate commercial income, would be welcomed. Qualifications  Essential: Degree qualification or equivalent in relevant subject Master’s degree in relevant subject Professional Recognition as HEA Fellow (D2) or teaching qualification recognised by HESA, or willingness to obtain within an agreed timescale Desirable: Doctorate in relevant subject, completed or within 12 months of completion Working towards or holding a professional body qualification   Right to Work All candidates will be required to provide proof of their eligibility to work in the UK during the interview process.
