Job Description:
The Opportunity
An opportunity is available for a Staff Specialist Anaesthetist to join a growing regional service at a moment of real transformation. With the department expanding and additional consultants joining the team, this role offers the chance to be part of a fresh beginning within a service building for the future.
You will provide anaesthetic care across elective and emergency services, working alongside a developing consultant team within a supportive and forward-looking environment. This position is well suited to anaesthetists seeking stability, professional growth, and the satisfaction of contributing to a service on an upward journey.
The Hospital
This is a large regional public hospital of approximately 150 to 200 acute beds delivering a broad range of emergency, medical, surgical, and specialist services. The hospital provides care across areas including intensive care, coronary care, oncology, renal dialysis, paediatrics, obstetrics, mental health, and peri-operative services.
The service is currently undergoing major redevelopment, expanding and modernising key clinical areas to support future demand. The anaesthetic department is well supported by multidisciplinary teams and is entering an exciting phase of growth, creating a secure and evolving environment for long-term practice.
The Location
The role is based in a vibrant regional city set alongside a major river system, where open space, natural beauty, and a strong sense of place shape everyday life. The surrounding valley offers wide open landscapes, green parklands, and a calm, grounded pace beyond work.

Requirements
Applicants will meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Hold or be eligible for Specialist Registration with AHPRA
- Have at least 12 months recent experience working as an Anaesthetist
- Be on the ANZCA training program and approaching Fellowship
- Hold Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA)
- International Medical Graduates eligible for recognised ANZCA pathways, including Competent Authority jurisdictions
- International Medical Graduates with a confirmed ANZCA interview date
- International Medical Graduates already assessed by ANZCA and found to be substantially comparable
