Job Description:
About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced and proactive Finance Officer to support the day-to-day finance operations across multiple education entities.Reporting to the Finance Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for a broad range of accounting and finance activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, student finance administration, reconciliations, payroll support and month-end reporting.This position is suited to someone who is highly organised, detail-oriented and capable of managing their responsibilities independently with appropriate guidance and support.Visa sponsorship may be considered for a suitably qualified candidate, subject to business requirements and the candidate meeting the relevant Australian immigration eligibility requirements.Key Responsibilities
  • Manage accounts payable, including invoice processing and weekly payment runs.
  • Manage accounts receivable, including student payment allocation, account follow-up and outstanding fee collection.
  • Perform bank, balance sheet and other month-end reconciliations.
  • Assist with month-end close and the preparation of management reports.
  • Support budgeting, cash flow reporting and revenue recognition processes.
  • Process student refunds, payment plans and instalment arrangements.
  • Maintain student financial records in the relevant student management systems.
  • Assist with payroll administration, leave balances and employee entitlement calculations.
  • Prepare audit supporting documents, reconciliations and working papers.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records across multiple entities.
  • Liaise with internal teams regarding finance and student account matters.
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, controls and reporting.

Skills and ExperienceEssential
  • A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
  • At least two years of relevant accounting or finance experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Xero.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable and reconciliations.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Highly Desirable
  • Experience working in the education sector.
  • Experience with student management systems such as Meshed.
  • Professional-level proficiency in Mandarin Chinese, with the ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken Chinese.
  • Experience using financial reporting and management reporting tools, such as Fathom or similar platforms.
  • Experience with student fees, refunds, instalment plans or revenue recognition.
  • Currently studying towards, or holding, a CPA or CA qualification.
