Job Description:
Who are we?Tenex Search is a tier 1 legal executive search firm, placing senior legal professionals across the world's leading law firms and in-house legal teams. A multi-million pound business with an established network across global decision-makers in the legal industry, Tenex has built a strong reputation for precision, discretion, and long-term relationships.
The second is a legal tech venture founded by senior operators in the global legal market, currently in its early build-out phase. The platform combines structured market data with a premium AI layer, designed to help law firms make smarter strategic and hiring decisions. Backed by investors and preparing for launch, which is growing fast and has ambitious plans for international expansion, including a New York office.
Together, the two businesses share a core team of 10 to 15 people across London, with some team members, including this role, working across both entities. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of an established, profitable business and an early-stage venture with significant growth potential.
What is the role?We are looking for a hands-on Finance Operations Manager to own the finance function across both ventures. This is a part-time, London-based role working in the office.
You will be the first dedicated finance hire across the group, reporting directly to the founders. You will own bookkeeping, invoicing, commission calculations, payment tracking, and accountant liaison for Tenex Search, while also supporting the build-out of the finance stack for this second venture, including its US entity.
This is not a pure bookkeeping role. We are looking for someone who combines strong financial fundamentals with an operational mindset, someone who can spot when a process is broken and fix it, not just maintain what is already there.
Day to day, you will:
  • Maintain accurate books across both entities, including multi-entity and multi-currency reconciliation
  • Raise and track client invoices, including USD and GBP transactions
  • Calculate consultant commissions and revenue shares with precision
  • Reconcile bank accounts and payment platforms including Wise, Stripe, and bank feeds
  • Track debtors, cash receipts, and upcoming liabilities
  • Prepare monthly finance packs for the founders and external accountants
  • Liaise with UK and US accountants, tax advisers, registered agents, and payroll providers
  • Support the setup and administration of the finance stack for the new venture, including its US entity
  • Help improve finance processes, controls, and reporting as the group scales

Who are we looking for?We are looking for someone with 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience in bookkeeping, finance operations, or SME and startup finance. The strongest profiles will come from one of the following backgrounds:
  • A UK company with a US subsidiary or US client base
  • A startup or founder-led SME with multiple entities
  • A recruitment, search, or staffing business
  • A fractional finance or bookkeeping firm handling UK and US clients

The following are non-negotiable:
  • Experience with Xero or QuickBooks
  • Strong Google Sheets and Excel skills
  • Experience raising invoices and tracking receivables
  • Comfortable calculating commissions or revenue shares
  • Experience dealing with external accountants
  • Multi-entity bookkeeping experience
  • Familiarity with US corporations, ideally Delaware C-Corps or LLCs
  • Comfortable with USD and GBP transactions, FX treatment, and payment platforms
  • Highly organised, discreet, and detail-oriented
  • Able to work independently and directly with founders

Useful but not required:
  • Payroll coordination experience
  • VAT and US sales tax awareness
  • Familiarity with 1099, W-8, or W-9 documentation
  • Experience with tools such as Deel, Gusto, Rippling, Mercury, Brex, Carta, or Pulley
  • SaaS or startup finance exposure

You do not need to meet every requirement listed above, if your background is close and you have the right mindset, we encourage you to apply.
What we offer:
  • A part-time role (full-time possible over time) with direct access to the founders of both businesses
  • A front-row seat in the build-out of an ambitious legal tech venture alongside an established, profitable business
  • 2 days in our London office (Piccadilly)
  • Competitive salary to be discussed during the recruitment process
  • The opportunity to become the finance operating system for a growing group, with real scope to shape the function as we scale

Visa sponsorship available for the right candidate. We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds.
