Backend Software Engineer — AI Fintech | $180k–$260k + Equity | San Francisco

SkillBridge Partners is hiring Backend Software Engineers for a fast-growing enterprise AI startup disrupting the $280B insurance industry.
This is a greenfield founding engineer opportunity — you'll build real infrastructure from day one, own end-to-end workflows, and work directly with customers to shape the product. No bureaucracy. No legacy systems holding you back. Just hard problems, autonomy, and real impact.
🏢 5 days in office — San Francisco. Relocation support available.
⚡ What You'll Build:You'll design and ship automation and AI-driven workflows for insurance agencies — integrating with fragmented, low-tech systems and building reliable scalable infrastructure on top of an existing browser automation layer. This is complex, meaningful backend work at the intersection of AI, fintech and insurance.
✅ What You Need:

• 5–15 years backend engineering experience
• Startup background — pre-Series D experience within last 4 years (required)
• TypeScript proficiency — primary backend language
• Uses modern AI coding tools daily — Cursor, Claude, Copilot
• Strong curiosity and comfort talking directly to customers
• H1B transfers and TN visas welcome — no lotteries

Bonus points for:

• Browser automation or web scraping experience 🕷️
• Background in insurance, fintech or healthcare
• Founding engineer experience

Candidates who are not Ideal :

• Only BigLaw big tech experience with no startup background
• 4+ job hops in 5 years
• Unwilling to work in person or talk to customers
