What is this challenge about:

• Lead the design and evolution of advanced perception algorithms that enable robots to localize, navigate, and interact autonomously in dynamic environments.
• Act as the technical reference point for the Perception team, setting standards and guiding development across areas such as sensor fusion, computer vision, and SLAM.
• Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering knowledge sharing, quality delivery, and scalable solutions.
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of perception pipelines into the overall robotics platform.
• Be hands-on in building and optimizing algorithms, bringing forward innovative approaches to address emerging challenges.
• Contribute strategically to the company’s mission of becoming the runtime standard for large-scale robotic automation.

What we are looking for

• MSc or higher degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of professional experience in robotics algorithms, with strong expertise in sensor fusion, computer vision, and SLAM-based localization.
• Proven experience with ROS or other robotics frameworks.
• Strong skills in modern C++ and Python, with practical experience in version control (Git).
• Solid knowledge of perception pipelines from sensor data processing to end-to-end solutions.
• Familiarity with LiDAR-SLAM, PCL, and autonomous navigation systems.
• Experience mentoring and guiding other engineers.
• Nice-to-have: background in object detection, semantic segmentation, ML/AI (TensorFlow, PyTorch, OpenCV) and simulation tools (Gazebo, Isaac Sim).
• Fluent level of English (mandatory);
• Work model is hybrid in Oeiras (Lisbon), 2-3 times per week in the office
