Software Test Engineer

Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Software Test Engineer to join our dynamic technology team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing comprehensive test plans to ensure the quality and functionality of our software products. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work across various testing methodologies, including functional, performance, and system testing, leveraging cutting-edge tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Jenkins, and JUnit. The ideal applicant will possess strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of SDLC processes, and experience in automation testing within diverse environments including cloud platforms like AWS. Responsibilities

• Develop detailed test cases, scripts, and plans based on business requirements and technical specifications.
• Execute manual and automated tests to verify software functionality across web, mobile (Android and iOS), and desktop platforms.
• Utilise automation tools such as Selenium, TestNG, Cucumber, and Appium to streamline testing processes.
• Integrate testing frameworks within CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
• Conduct performance testing using LoadRunner or similar tools to assess system scalability under load conditions.
• Perform root cause analysis on defects identified during testing phases and collaborate with development teams for resolution.
• Support user acceptance testing (UAT) by preparing test data and assisting end-users during validation phases.
• Participate in requirements gathering sessions to ensure testability of new features and functionalities.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of test cases, defect reports, and test results adhering to SDLC standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating new testing tools and methodologies.
• Support release management activities by validating software builds prior to deployment.

Experience

• Proven experience in software quality assurance with a strong background in automated testing tools such as Selenium, TestNG, Cucumber, or similar frameworks.
• Demonstrable knowledge of programming languages including Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript for scripting purposes.
• Familiarity with version control systems like GitHub, GitLab, SVN, or TFS is essential.
• Experience working within Agile (Scrum) or Waterfall development environments.
• Strong understanding of SDLC processes including requirements analysis, system design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Hands-on experience with APIs (REST/SOAP), web services architecture (SOA), cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, and containerisation technologies is desirable.
• Knowledge of database management systems including MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server or MongoDB for data validation purposes.
• Skills in debugging and troubleshooting complex issues across diverse operating systems such as Windows and Linux are required.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret business requirements into effective test strategies.
