About the RoleWe are developing a high-tech hydroponic tomato greenhouse operation in Keysbrook, WA, commencing at approximately 1 hectare with plans to scale beyond 2 hectares. We're looking for an experienced Head Grower to lead all aspects of crop production and take ownership of yield, quality, and greenhouse performance from the ground up.This role is being advertised ahead of construction, with timing dependent on planning approvals and supplier selection. We're keen to engage the right candidate early, with opportunities to contribute during the design and commissioning phase ahead of a full-time growing role once the greenhouse is operational.As the operation scales, there is potential for diversification into additional crops such as strawberries and other produce-to-product opportunities — offering the right candidate a pathway to broaden their remit over time.This is a rare opportunity to shape growing operations at a purpose-built greenhouse from an early stage, with genuine input into systems, processes, and team culture as the operation grows.
Key Responsibilities- Full accountability for crop health, yield, and quality across the greenhouse
- Manage climate control systems (temperature, humidity, CO₂, irrigation) to optimise growing conditions
- Apply psychrometric and evaporative cooling principles to fine-tune greenhouse climate
- Lead integrated pest management (IPM) programs
- Track and report on yield performance against production targets
- Supervise and develop an initial growing team of up to 6 staff
- Manage nutrient dosing, irrigation scheduling, and crop nutrition programs
- Maintain accurate production records and report to the Director
- Contribute to future crop diversification planning as the operation scales
About You- Essential: proven experience growing tomatoes in high-tech hydroponic greenhouse environments
- Strong understanding of greenhouse climate control and crop steering
- Experience leading and developing a team
- Current driver's licence
- Nice to have: experience with Priva or similar climate control software
- Nice to have: experience with gutter and NFT systems
- Nice to have: experience growing other protected crops (e.g. strawberries)
- Willingness to be based in Keysbrook, WA (commute from Perth/Mandurah, or on-site accommodation available)
- Open to candidates requiring visa sponsorship
