Nic & Kolo is an award‑winning café in Applecross Village, celebrated for its contemporary, Asian‑influenced menu and dedication to fresh WA produce. With the recent opening of Daily Practice, our new retail/canteen concept, we are expanding our leadership team and seeking an experienced Head Chef to oversee both venues.This is an outstanding opportunity for a motivated and creative culinary professional wanting to lead, innovate, and grow. About the RoleYou will lead the kitchen teams at Nic & Kolo and Daily Practice, managing day-to-day operations and ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality dishes. This role combines leadership, hands-on cooking, and creative input. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small but high-performing kitchen team
  • Oversee daily service across both venues
  • Manage rosters, labour costs, and kitchen efficiencies
  • Maintain exceptional food quality, safety, and hygiene standards
  • Contribute to menu development and seasonal changes
  • Work collaboratively with management to drive continuous improvement

About YouTo succeed in this role, you will have:
  • Proven experience supervising or leading in an a la carte kitchen
  • Strong skills in grill, garnish, and brunch service
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities
  • A positive, team-focused attitude with strong leadership skills
  • Passion for produce, creativity, and evolving your craft
  • Willingness to work weekends, rostered shifts, and some public holidays

Experience Required
  • Minimum 5 years’ post‑qualification experience in a quality establishment
  • Strong understanding of professional food preparation and hygiene standards
