Job Description:
The opportunityThis is a role for an experienced teacher, not a first appointment. We are seeking a competent, engaged Early Childhood Teacher — operating at Level 2 or 3 of the Educational Services (Teachers) Award — to lead one of our learning spaces at Majura Park (Canberra Airport). The room itself is a calm, quiet space to work in — well staffed, with great families and engaged, interesting children — and you will be backed by hands-on centre leadership and a management team that responds when you need something. What we are asking of you is genuine room leadership: setting the standard of practice, developing the educators around you, and making the room yours. If you are the kind of teacher who wants a real mandate to lead — with the authority and the support to match — this is that role.About usMajura Park Has been operating since 2009 - We are a long-established, family-owned Canberra company inspired by a Reggio Emilia approach. Our philosophy is simple: when teams are properly supported, children receive quality early learning outcomes. We back that with:
  • Staffing above required ratios — every day, not just on good days.
  • Conditions and remuneration significantly above the Award.
  • A genuine professional learning culture, including our in-house Reflective Educator Series.
  • Stable, long-tenured teams who work collaboratively and support one another.
  • Responsive management — decisions and answers come quickly.

The roleAs Preschool Room Leader you will:
  • Design and deliver a rich, play-based educational program grounded in the EYLF and responsive to children's emerging interests.
  • Know each child as an individual — their routines, dispositions and learning trajectories — and plan intentionally for them.
  • Lead, coach and mentor your room team, setting the professional standard through your own practice.
  • Build strong, trusting partnerships with families, communicating each child's learning and progress with warmth and substance.
  • Contribute to the centre's quality improvement work and preschool outcomes planning.
  • Champion and model a child safe culture in everything you do.

About you
  • A recognised, ACECQA-approved Early Childhood Teaching qualification (Bachelor or Master)
  • 3+ years' post-qualification experience as an ECT — you are confident in your practice and ready to lead a room without close supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and collaborate with a capable, motivated team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with families and colleagues
  • Deep commitment to child safety and to creating environments where children thrive
  • Warmth, curiosity and genuine enjoyment of teaching alongside children
  • ACT Teacher Quality Institute (TQI) registration essential (NSW accepted).

Essential requirements
  • Current ACT Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration — no card, no start.
  • Full Australian work rights. (note: we can offer Visa sponsorship)
  • Completion of, or willingness to complete, mandatory national child safety training.

What we offer✅ Salary well above the Educational Services (Teachers) Award, commensurate with experience — substantial experience will be well remunerated.✅ Above-ratio staffing and dedicated programming time.✅ Structured professional learning and a leadership team that invests in its teachers.✅ A settled room, a strong team, and a local employer with a long history in Canberra.Child safetyOur organisation is committed to child safety.
