Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity Applications are invited for a full-time Consultant Neonatologist based at Auckland City Hospital (ACH). The Newborn Service is linked with both a large Fetal Medicine/Obstetric Unit and Starship Child Health. Auckland City Hospital has over 7000 births per year and provides a wide range of Perinatal and Neonatal services, including Fetal Medicine, Neonatal Surgery, Paediatric Cardiology and other Paediatric Subspecialties, and Genetics Services. The Neonatal Unit is funded for 40 cots overall including 18 Intensive Care cots. Newborn Services at ACH is an integrated medical and surgical unit. The Newborn Service also provides air and road transport for most emergency neonatal retrievals within the region. Unit staffing includes paediatric registrars, experienced neonatal nurse practitioners and nurse specialists, and two Clinical Fellows. There is a strong Neonatal team with a good mix of highly experienced senior staff and enthusiastic junior staff. We pride ourselves on the close working relationship between medical and nursing teams and within the wider multidisciplinary team.
Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills We are looking for a forward-thinking Consultant Neonatologist who is committed to working in an innovative way, constantly seeking to improve clinical care based on best evidence and someone who thrives on active participation in research and teaching. An interest in physician performed echocardiography would be encouraged. The appointee would be expected to have completed Higher Specialist Training in Neonatology or equivalent and have had substantial tertiary neonatal care experience. You must have or be eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
