You will work in an iconic campus location, collaborating with passionate colleagues and external partners, helping to shape the future of education and research at Sussex. We are seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Operations and Communications Manager to lead all operational and communications functions for the Sussex School for Progressive Futures (SSPF) - a brand new initiative at the University of Sussex. You will play a key role in developing and implementing a strategic communications plan to raise the School’s profile locally, nationally, and internationally; manage the School’s digital presence, including website content, newsletters, social media channels; and create compelling content that reflects the School’s interdisciplinary ethos and progressive mission. You will coordinate day-to-day operations to support governance and event management by liaising with internal and external stakeholders and act as a vital link between SSPF and other University divisions. You will coordinate strategic communications to raise the Sussex School for Progressive Futures’ profile across diverse audiences, managing digital platforms and content creation. Additionally, you will oversee day-to-day operations and support events, ensuring smooth collaboration across the University to strengthen the School’s interdisciplinary mission. About you We are looking for a proactive, strategic communicator with strong operational and administrative acumen to join the Sussex School for Progressive Futures. The ideal candidate will have a talent for creating compelling content across digital platforms and a proven ability to deliver impactful communications strategies. They’ll thrive in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment, balancing day-to-day operations with long-term planning. Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and attention to detail are essential, as is the ability to work independently while collaborating across teams. Experience managing events and coordinating with diverse stakeholders is also key.
