Job Summary: For an aviation customer, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Release Train Engineer to join our agile release train. The stakeholders of our customer, such as airline dispatchers or flow managers, work in a technical and demanding environment. Our train is dedicated to delivering an incredible user experience to our internal and external users.

Seniority: senior (> 10 years of experience)

Key Responsibilities:
The Release Train Engineer (RTE) plays a crucial leadership role in the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology. Serving as a servant leader and facilitator, the RTE oversees the Agile elease Train (ART), which is composed of multiple Agile teams working in unison to deliver value.

The five key responsibilities of an RTE are:
Facilitating PI Planning
Supporting PI Execution
Coaching the ART
Optimizing Flow
Relentless Improvement

Skills:
Comprehensive Knowledge of Lean and Agile Practices (SAFe)
An RTE must have a deep understanding of Lean and Agile principles, especially in the context of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). RTEs should be well-versed in Agile methodologies, iteration cycles, and frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, and XP to provide proper guidance to teams.

Facilitation and Coordination Skills
Strong facilitation skills are critical to successfully guiding teams through the SAFe events and keeping them on track. RTEs also help manage dependencies across teams, resolving conflicts and removing impediments to ensure seamless collaboration.

- People Management and Team Building

- Risk Management and Problem-Solving
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically are essential for navigating complex situations and making informed decisions that keep the ART moving forward.

- Coaching and Teaching
This role requires strong teaching abilities to help others understand complex concepts and adopt Agile best practices.

- Communication and Collaboration
Strong communication skills are vital for an RTE to ensure transparency and alignment across teams and stakeholders. RTEs must communicate PI objectives, progress, risks, and updates effectively to ensure everyone is on the same page.

- Metrics and Reporting
Understanding which metrics to monitor, how to interpret them, and how to course-correct when necessary is crucial. RTEs must ensure transparency by summarizing and publishing key objectives and outcomes, providing visibility to stakeholders.

- Budget and Resource Management
An RTE should understand the budgeting process within a SAFe environment, ensuring that the ART operates within financial constraints. Resource management is also key to addressing critical bottlenecks and ensuring the ART has the necessary support to meet its goals.

- Servant Leadership
Above all, an RTE embodies the philosophy of servant leadership. This means prioritizing the needs of the teams, removing roadblocks, and empowering team members to grow and succeed. The RTE leads by example, encouraging collaboration, open communication, and a shared vision of success.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience as a Release Train Engineer.
