Key IngredientsTo go places at Schnitz as a Cook, it will also help if you’re someone who:· Has at least 2 years’ experience in a commercial kitchen or similar setting· Have relevant qualifications such as a Cert III in Commercial Cookery· Be confident working in a fast-paced environment· Have a strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices· Be reliable, hardworking and a team player· Work full-time hours with flexible availability, including weekends and evenings
What You’ll Be Doing (AKA Bringing the Heat)This is a hands-on kitchen role where consistency, quality, and teamwork are key. You will be responsible for:· Preparing and cooking menu items in line with Schnitz recipes and standards· Ensuring all food is prepared and presented to a high-quality standard· Examining food ingredients to ensure freshness and quality· Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment· Seasoning and cooking food during service periods· Portioning, plating and garnishing dishes· Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements where required· Maintaining a clean and safe kitchen in line with food safety standards
