We are seeking excellent academics to join our staff as an Assistant Professor/Lecturer in General Nursing. The persons appointed will have a proven record of teaching, research and publication, appropriate to career stage. They will be expected to make a strong contribution to the teaching programme of the Department and undertake teaching duties on the Department’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as well as the supervision of Master’s and PhD students. The appointees will be expected to build a strong research profile, that supports the University’s research strategy including affiliating to the Research Institutes, where appropriate and working with colleagues on national and international research. The appointees will be expected to sustain and conduct research, engage in scholarship of quality and substance and generate publications of international standard. Assistant Professor/Lecturer: €64,112 – €101,524 p.a. (7 points)Assistant Lecturer: €41,682 - €71,285 p.a (14 points) Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions. The ideal candidate will have: Qualifications Essential A PhD/Professional Doctorate or doctoral studies nearing completion (Please note, your PhD/Professional doctorate must be awarded prior to commencing in the post); Registration as a General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) or, for overseas candidates, evidence of ability to register with NMBI as a Registered General Nurse; At least three years' experience of teaching in a university or another relevant context. Evidence of commitment to educational excellence to include teaching, assessment, supervision and module/programme development; Demonstrated capacity to contribute to the School's research to include an established publication record and successful grant writing appropriate to stage. Desirable Registration, or eligibility to register on the Nurse Tutor’s division with the NMBI or hold an equivalent postgraduate teaching and learning qualification; Additional registrations in other areas of nursing or in midwifery; A minimum of 5 year’s post-registration experience in general nursing practice; Experience of primary, community and/or integrated care particularly desirable; A flexible and innovative approach to academic delivery and administration; Research active with funded research in an area relevant to general nursing.
